After the storm

Lord have mercy!

I have been reading up on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the category 4 Hurricane that swept through the US gulf coast Monday, August 29th leaving New Orleans, Lousiana....and some parts of Mississippi, Alabama in a state of wreckage. I understand that 80% of the city of New Orleans is flooded with some parts under 20 ft of water!

My heart truly goes out to all the residents in that area. I cannot imagine what folks must be going through right now. The mayor of New Orleans thinks that hundreds perhaps thousands of lives have been lost. There is ruin everywhere, lives lost, people stranded, families torn apart, properties lost, streets flooded....hopes shattered.

Father, I ask that you send help and give wisdom to the emeregency relief workers to strategize appropriately right now. I ask that you hold back the strength of the floods. I ask that you give hope and strength to the tired, hungry, cold, homeless, and angry people. I ask that you will look down and be merciful because you are a life giver, even an abundant life giver. Father, breath on New Orleans....let the rebuilding of this city be a rebirth of great spiritual awakening in Jesus name. Amen.

As if that was not enough, I just read that deaths mounted steadily in northeast Baghdad after a massive Shiite religious procession turned into a chaotic stampede today, causing the drowning and trampling deaths of 841 pilgrims most of which were women and children. EIGHT HUNDRED FORTY ONE LIVES!! It was the single biggest confirmed loss of life in Iraq since the March 2003 US invasion.

Lord you have come that we might have life, and even life abundantly...because of the blood that you shed on Calvary, I ask that you Arise concerning Iraq...heal the land and restore wholeness.

what is the world turning into?....people need the Lord

Lesson Learned: Vanity upon Vanity, all is Vanity. What does it profit a man to gain the world, but loose his soul? soul winning, seun, soul winning!!

summer school is over

I took my last exam for the summer yesterday. Talk about being stressed and anxious, I had to chant God has not given me the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power and love on my way to take the exam. The past few days has been quite stressful. A friend's wife is visiting from Europe and she's visiting for a while coz she's here on some"business". It's interesting trying to make sure everyone is given some of my time.

Praise spent this past weekend with Aunty Remi and Aunty Denrele and it was nice to have time to study and do other things in between like shopping for bedroom furniture!!

Anyway, I'm done with summer school and that is a wonderful and relieving accomplishment. I start fall classes next week! though....the Lord is on throne. I take two classes this Fall and write my thesis in the Spring by God's grace. I'm hoping to find a distance education class this fall so as to reduce my campus visits, because it really takes me away from my family.

Lesson Learned: I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me!
